Cutting Instructions:
Background

... Three 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" squares - Pieces A and B
... One 3 1/4" square ... cut twice diagonally - yield: four quarter-square triangles - Piece E (only one triangle will be used in block)
... One 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" strip - Piece C
... One 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip - Piece G
... One 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" square - Piece I
... One 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" rectangle - Piece J
... One 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip - Piece L

Red
... One 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square - Piece B
... One 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" square ... cut once diagonally (Piece F) - yield: two half-square triangles (only one triangle will be used in block)

Black
... Three 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" squares Pieces A and B
... One 3 1/4" square ... cut twice diagonally - Piece E - yield: four quarter-square triangles (only one triangle will be used in block)
... One 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle - Piece D
... One 4 1/2 x 6 1/2" rectangle - Piece H
... Two 1 1/2" x 2" rectangle - Piece K

Assembly Instructions:

Sub Unit 1
Step 1. On wrong side of black 2 1/2" square (Piece B), draw a diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Referring to Diagram I, place black square on background 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" strip (Piece C), right sides together. Stitch on marked line; cut off corner 1/4"from marked line. Press seam allowance towards triangle.
