... 1 square 8 7/8" x 8 7/8", cut diagonally to make 2 half-square triangles (only 1 triangle needed for square) Piece 1A

Intermediate Level

Piecing the block
Step 1. On wrong side of ivory fabric, draw diagonal line with the marking tool of your choice. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares (Diagram I). Make 20.

Step 2. Using Diagrams II as a guide, make one pieced-square center unit.

Step 3. Referring to Assembly Diagram, sew units together to make block.
