Quilting & Binding
Step 1.) Layer place mat, batting, and backing and baste using safety pins. Using even-feed presser foot, machine quilt "in-the-ditch."

Step 2.) Sew binding strips to long sides of place mat. Turn and pin in place on the back. (Diagram 2)

Step 3.) Sew side binding strips onto place mat leaving approximately 1" of binding extending on each end. Wrap extensions around to back and sew through all layers. (Diagram 2)

Step 4.) Turn binding to back of place mat and blind stitch into place.

Assembling Napkins
Step 1.) Cut two 16 1/2" squares from red and green fabric.

Step 2.) Sew squares together right side to right side. Leave opening for turning. (1/4" seam allowance) Diagram 3

Step 3.) Turn right sides out and press. Top stitch close to the edge.
