... 1A - Cut 2 squares 4 1/4", subcut twice diagonally (yield 8 quarter-square triangles)
... 1B - Cut 4 "one way" half trapezoids using 5 1/8" x 2 5/8" rectangles (see cutting diagram).

... 2A - Cut 1 square 4 1/4", subcut twice diagonally (yield 4 quarter-square triangles)
... 2C - Cut 4 squares 2 5/8"
... 2D - Cut 1 square 7 1/4", subcut twice diagonally (yield 4 quarter-square triangles)

Blue ... Color #3
... 3A - Cut 1 square 4 1/4", subcut twice diagonally (yield 4 quarter square triangles)
... 3B - Cut 4 "one way" half trapezoids using 5 1/8" x 2 5/8" rectangles.

"One way" half-trapezoids ... Cut and place rectangles, right side of fabric up. Using 45 degree angle line on ruler, cut off corner.

TRADITIONAL SETTING

The following is a suggested setting for the Flying Fish block.

The blocks are set "block to block", 3 blocks across and 4 blocks down (12 blocks total). Note placement of blocks in the Assembly Diagram below. The setting below estimates a 2" finished (2 1/2" cut) inner border, and a 5" finished (5 1/2" cut) inner border.
