Cutting Instructions Wine ... Piece A - cut two squares 5 3/8", cut in half once diagonally to make four triangles ... cut eight 3" squares ... cut two strips 1 1/2" x 12 1/2" ... cut two strips 1 1/2" x 14 1/2" ... binding - cut four strips 1 3/8" x WOF (width of fabric) Stripe ... cut four strips 2" x 14 1/2"... Piece B - cut four rectangles 2 1/4" x 5 1/8". Referring to Diagram 1, cut into "one-way" half trapezoids ... cut four strips 2" x 14 1/2"

Blue ... Piece C - cut one square 4 3/4", cut in half diagonally twice to make four triangles ... cut six 3 7/8" squares, sub-cut diagonally once to make 12 triangles ... Piece F - cut four strips 3" x 14 1/2" Background ... Piece D - cut four rectangles 2" x 6 7/8". Referring to Diagram 1, cut into "one-way" half trapezoids. ... Piece E - cut one square 7 1/4", cut in half diagonally twice to make four triangles ... cut two 3 7/8" squares, sub-cut diagonally once to make 4 triangles ... cut eight 3" squares ... cut four strips 2 1/2" x 14 1/2"

Cutting One-way Half Trapezoid Place rectangles, right side of fabric up, on cutting mat. Using 45° angle line on the ruler, cut off lower right corner. CUT EXACTLY AS SHOWN IN DIAGRAM 1

Step 1. Stitch together pieces A - E as shown in Diagram II to make sub-unit. Make 4.

Step 2. Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps. Sew 2 rows of 2 sub-units each. Sew rows together to make Double Pinwheel Block.

Step 3. Use 3" squares to make pieced squares. On wrong side of lightest fabric, draw diagonal line. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares. Make 16.

Step 4. Sew together 4 pieced squares, watching orientation, to make pinwheel unit. Make 4. Add blue 3 7/8" half-square triangle to each side of pinwheel unit to make corner sub-unit. Make 4.

Step 5. Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps. Sew wine 12 1/2" strips to Double Pinwheel Block. Stitch remaining wine strips to top and bottom of block. Sew together blue, stripe, and background 14 1/2" strips to make pieced border. Make 4. Sew 2 to sides. Add corner sub-units to ends of remaining 2 pieced borders and sew to top/bottom.

Step 6. Layer, Baste, and Quilt. Bind with wine solid.
