CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS
Background:
1A - 4 squares 2" x 2"
1B - 10 squares 2 3/8" x 2 3/8"
1C - 4 rectangles 2" x 3 1/2"
1D - 5 squares 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
| Light Blue: 2B - 12 squares 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" Medium Blue: 3A - 4 squares 2" x 2" 3B - 4 squares 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" |
Dark Blue: 4A - 16 squares 2" x 2" 4B - 2 squares 2 3/8" x 2 3/8" Rust: 5A - 12 squares 2" x 2" |
Piecing the block
Step 1. On wrong side of background squares, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Using Diagram I as a guide, layer square together with background fabric on top. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line: cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares.

Step 2. Draw a diagonal line on wrong side of, Piece 4A dark blue squares. Using Diagram II as a guide, layer Piece 4A dark blue square and Piece 1C background rectangle, right sides together. Sew directly on top of drawn line. Cut away excess fabric 1/4" from seamline. Press seam allowance toward dark blue triangle. Repeat for other end of rectangle. Make 4 Flying Geese units.

Step 3. Draw a diagonal line on wrong side of 2" squares. Using Diagram III as a guide, layer dark blue square and upper right corner of Piece 1D background square, right sides together. Sew directly on top of drawn line. Cut away excess fabric 1/4" from seamline. Press seam allowance toward corner triangle. Repeat the steps for each corner of the square. Make 4.

Step 4. Using Diagram IV as a guide, piece square sub unit together.

Step 5. Using Assembly Diagram as a guide, piece units together to make rows. Piece rows together to make Delectable Mountains block.
