Fabric Requirements Planning Cutting Instructions Piecing and Appliquéing the Blocks and Sashing Units
Step 2. Referring to Diagram II-A, use mark, stitch, trim, and press process to make roof, manger, and 2 stable corners. Piece Manger Block (Diagram II-B).

Step 3. Finger-press assorted light blue/white 10" square in half on both length and width; use folds as placement guide. Referring to Diagram III, position purple and rose strips and Template A and B shapes. Appliqué in place. Trim Advent Wreath Block to 9 1/2" square. Appliqué Template C star to Manger Block.

Step 4. To make sashing post pinwheels, draw diagonal line on wrong side of assorted light blue/white 2 3/8" square. Referring to Diagram IV-A, place marked square on assorted dark/medium blue 2 3/8" square, right sides together. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares. Make 32 total. Stitch 2 rows of 2 pieced squares each (Diagram IV-B). Sew rows together to make pinwheel. Make 8 total.

Step 5. Referring to Diagram V, make 10 total pieced sashing strips.

Wall Hanging Assembly, Quilting, and Finishing
Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps.
Step 6. Sew 4 sashing rows using 2 pinwheels and 1 pieced sashing strip each. Sew 3 block rows using 2 pieced sashing strips and 1 block each. Sew rows together.

Step 7. Layer, baste, and quilt as desired. Bind with white/blue swirl print.
Step 8. To make bow for Gift Block, fold dark/medium blue 4" x 20" strip in half lengthwise, right sides together (Diagram VI). Trim corners as shown. Sew 1/4" seam along raw edges, leaving opening for turning on long side. Trim corners, turn right side out, press, and hand stitch opening closed. Tie bow and tack to block.
