We have divided the instructions for the Watering Can Block into 3 sections for easy assembly.
Cutting Instructions
Light green mottle
4 squares 1 1/4" x 1 1/4"
2 rectangles 1 3/4" x 3"
2 rectangles 2 1/2" x 4 1/2"
6 squares 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
4 squares 2 5/8" x 2 5/8"
4 strips 1 1/2" x 5 1/2"
2 strips 3 1/2" x 10 1/2"
4 strips 2 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Green, blue, or black batik
*2 rectangles 5 1/2" x 6 3/8"
4 strips 1 1/4" x 2 1/2"
2 strips 1 1/4" x 3"
2 strips 1 1/4" x 2 5/8"
2 strips 1 1/8" x 8"
Green leaf print
*2 strips 2 1/2" x 36"
*2 strips 2 1/2" x 12"

*Cut first.


Piecing the Blocks
1 Draw diagonal line on wrong side of light green 1 1/4" square. Place marked square on batik 1 1/4" x 2 1/2"rectangle, right sides together (Diagram I-A). Stitch on drawn line; trim away and discard excess fabric. Press open. Make 2. Repeat process, turning the marked square in the opposite direction. Make 2. Referring to Diagrams I-B through II-B for sizes and color placement, sew 2 each of sections A and B.
2 Referring to Diagram III-A, press 1/4" under on long sides of 8" batik strip. Position as shown on light green 3 1/2" x 10 1/2" strip (Diagram III-B). Applique in place to make section C. Make 2. Sew sections A-C together to make Watering Can Block. Make 2.
3 Sew 3 rows using 5 green leaf 2 1/2" squares and 4 light green 2 1/2" squares (Diagram V-A). Stitch rows together to make 9-patch. Sew light green 6 1/2" strips to sides of 9-patch (Diagram V-B). Stitch green leaf 2 1/2" squares to ends of light green 6 1/2" strips and sew to top and bottom to make 1 Stepping Stone Block.
Table Runner Assembly, Quilting, and Finishing
4 Referring to Assembly Diagram, stitch blocks together, alternating.
5 Sew green leaf 12" strips to sides; trim even with top/bottom. Stitch remaining green strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides.
6 Layer, baste, and quilt as desired. Bind with green, blue, or black batik.
