(cut in order listed)

= cut in half diagonally
Fabric for bird wing
   1 square 3¾˝ x 3¾˝ (for Foundation Master A, area 1)
Fabric for bird body
   1 strip 1¾˝ x 3¾˝ (A5)
   1 square 2¼˝ x 2¼˝ (A2, A4)
Blue texture (sky)
   1 square 4½˝ x 4½˝ (A3)
   1 square 3˝ x 3˝ (C1)
   1 square 2¾˝ x 2¾˝ (C5)
   1 strip 1¾˝ x 3¾˝ (B1)
   1 square 1¾˝ x 1¾˝ (A6)
   1 strip 1½˝ x 5½˝
   1 strip 1¼˝ x 2¾˝ (C3)
Orange texture (beak)
   1 square 1¾˝ x 1¾˝ (B2)
Light brown plaid (legs)
   2 strips 1˝ x 2¾˝ (C2, C4)

Making the Block

1. Make accurate copies of Foundation Masters A, B, and C from download link above. Referring to Diagram I, foundation piece units for bird. You will have 1 each blue 4½˝ and 1¾˝ half-square triangles plus 1 orange 1¾˝ half-square triangle left over. Trim excess fabric and paper along outer dashed lines on all sides. Sew A and B together. Add C to bottom to complete bird.
