Planning
The dark fabric used in this block becomes a chain of squares when blocks are set together. You can also make alternate squares using the free Kiss Block pattern, for even more visual interest and fun!

Cutting Instructions
Light and medium fabrics—cut from each:
    1 strip 2½˝ x width of fabric (WOF)
    1 strip 2½˝ x 21-22˝
Dark fabric
    2 strips 2½˝ x 21-22˝

Piecing the Block

1. Referring to Diagram I-A, sew together 1 light and 1 medium 2½˝ x WOF strips to make strip set. Press in direction of arrow. Cut into 8 segments 4½˝ wide. In same manner, make 2 remaining strip sets, press, and cut segments in fabric combinations, widths, and quantities shown.
2. Sew 2 different 2½˝ segments together to make 4-patch (Diagram I-B). Make 8. Sew together two 4½˝ segments and two 4-patches to make quarter-block (Diagram I-C). Make 4.
3. Referring to Diagram I-D, sew together 4 quarter-blocks to make Hug Block.
