Important Technique Note
Lennie Honcoop's hot ribbon appliqué technique requires a final step not included in the McCall's Quilting pattern. Hot ribbon appliqué must be heat set after completion. Cover the flower with an appliqué pressing sheet and press with a hot iron for approximately 10 seconds per spot; when you have pressed the entire flower, repeat. The appliqué is now permanent, and the project can be washed on gentle cycle. Do not machine dry, as the heat may cause appliqués, ribbon, or crystals to release. The editors of McCall's Quilting apologize for any inconvenience the omission of this step may have caused our readers.
A kit for this quilt is available for $46.00 plus $5.00 shipping/handling (CA residents add 7.75% sales tax) from The Dutch Quilter, 4105 Saul Ct., Elk Grove, CA 95758; (916) 683-1215; website: www.dutchquilter.com; email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Lennie Honcoop's book, Floral Fantasies (Dutch Quilter, 2006), which includes a larger version of the hibiscus pattern plus 7 other flower patterns, is available for $24.95 plus $3.00 shipping.
