How long I've been quilting... Approximately 25 years.

I began quilting because... I love the colors, textures, designs of fabric.

My quilting style is... Very relaxed, though attention to detail is important to me. The finished quilt must be one the new owner loves to use.

People who inspired me... I love to see work from other quilters, magazines, books, etc.

I draw my inspiration from... My imagination is sparked by shapes, colors, events in life, and my own desire to make friends and family happy to receive a quilt that says someone loves them.

Christine HeimburgerMy Favorite techniques... I enjoy appliqué, and piecing, but would love to learn paper piecing and thread painting.

Colors or fabrics I'm attracted to... I love bright, happy colors!

My fabric stash... I’ve learned over the years to buy at least 2 yards of any fabric I would feel sad if I got home without it!

My quilting community... I’ve only recently joined two local guilds.

My other hobbies and interests... I feel strongly about exercise for health, I also travel with my husband and stay active in my church and community.

Christine HeimburgerI entered Quilt Design Star™ 2012 because... 2012 is the MOST IMPORTANT election year of our time. I feel the art and tradition of quilting has many parallels to life, family, community and nation…the whole fabric is woven together from many threads, fabric is cut into smaller pieces, then sewn back together to create a beautiful, finished piece. The quilt is finished with quilting stitches and binding to hold it all together.  Quilts are made to care for our families and used for warmth. My goal is to bring focus to the election through quilts!

What you should know about me… I am a wife of 30 great years, mom of three wonderful adult children. I am a retired flight attendant and happily enjoying an ongoing learning experience in quilting.
