how many squares
How many squares will make a Queen/King
Size of Half Square Triangle
I made this according to the pattern, the small half square triangles squared to 2 1/2 inches. Now I have all of the blocks finished but they do not square up to 10 1/2 inches. Apparently the instructions were wrong???????
For the fabrics in this quilt, you might try the Moda line, Kansas Troubles.
Re: size blocks
Dear larrygilbert: Thanks so much for your question! Working with half-square triangle measurements can be confusing, since we're dealing with an angle. The large half-square triangles you will make using Step 1 of our instructions in the Sept/Oct 2009 issue should measure 5 3/4", for a finished unit of 5 1/4". In turn, the small half-square triangles should measure 2 1/4", for a finished unit of 1 3/4".
size blocks
After having placed the two 6 1/8 squares and sewing them together and cutting in half diagonally, how big the block be sized to also should the smaller 2 5/8 blocks be straightened and cut to a 2 1/4 finished block. That information is missing and it's difficult to know how much to trim these blocks before sewing them all together to make the larger 8 3/4 block. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

This is a beautiful quilt but wish that the names of the fabric was included in the article with the pattern.
