Design Star™ 2010 Finalist - Pam Lincoln

I have been quilting for.. around 5 years

I began quilting because.. Quilting was always interesting to me but I didn't really begin to do it until one of my friends gave me that little nudge and the boost in confidence to start.

I learned quilting from.. my friend, taking classes, reading quilting magazines, and sources on the internet.

My style is.. I'm not sure I have a defined "style" yet.  My tastes have changed from when I first began to quilt. I really love the fresh, modern style that seems to be taking off at the moment.

I am inspired by.. my fellow bloggers!  Just looking around at quilting blogs you find amazing people out there.  On a day to day basis, I am always inspired by my best friend Pauline and my other best friend Liz. They are amazing women!

My inspiration comes from.. This is a tough question. Inspiration is all around me. I try to look at my surroundings for inspiration, and also I look to bloggers and what is new and upcoming online.

My favorite techniques are.. I really like to design my own quilts. I am just learning EQ7 at the moment.  Up until now all the quilts I have designed were on graph paper. I like to use fusible applique as well. I am just testing the water in liberated piecing and that is a lot of fun to play with too.

I am attracted to.. I love putting aqua, green and white together. I seem to be including a lot of orange in things at the moment. I use mostly all cotton fabrics and I love using flannel on the back of quilts.

My stash is.. my friend.  I shop there first and always seem to find something I can use.  Of course stash enhancement is fun too, but every time I go to my stash I realize all over again how much I like it.  It is probably in need of a little updating as I said my tastes are changing but I really do love it.  I think the blue and green bins have the most fabric in them!

I run a.. small quilting group in the community that I live in. We are called the Canton Area Quilt Guild. It is a small group of women and we meet every Wednesday night for 3 hours. It is a nice mix of women and we learn a lot from each other. Since I work full time I don't have a lot of free time for more groups.  I have done several online swaps and have really enjoyed that though.  I have been considering joining in some of the bees I have found too but so far have not found the time to do so.

What you should know about me.. I have been married to the same wonderful man for the past 27 years. I am the mother to 2 daughters (25 and 22)and one son(19) whom I love more than anything. I share my home with a dog, 5 cats, a snake, a duck and 2 baby peachicks (at the moment).  My oldest daughter and I have been hatching eggs for a friend that lives on a farm and that has been an interesting adventure!  I graduated from Michigan State University and am proud to be a Spartan!! I work outside the home doing biomedical research and have been in the same lab for the last 27 years. I love to sew, quilt and teach others how to do the same.  I try to make time to sew every day!

My non-quilting hobbies are.. I love photography and you will rarely find me without my camera! I enjoy hand embroidery and have been doing that quite a bit lately.  I like to read. One of my favorite things to read about includes Celtic culture and King Arthur. I love animals and nature and try to be out in the garden as much as possible in the summer. I really love to travel and hope to do more of it once I retire. I really love the water and I love to swim.

I entered Quilt Design Star™ because.. I have been designing some of my own quilts for awhile now and I thought it might be fun to see if others liked what I do.  It would be fun to become a pattern designer.
