I've been quilting for.. 32 years.

I began sewing because.. I loved sewing and working with fabric.

I learned quilting by.. I took Homemaking in high school and learned to sew.  My mother also taught me some shortcuts and techniques.  My grandmother pieced and quilted many quilts and gave me pointers until she died.  Most of what I know about quilting has been self-taught.

I was inspired to quilt by.. my grandmother.

I draw inspiration from.. many things--new fabrics each season, new patterns, compliments on my work, new member of my family, encouragement of friends. My favorite technique is.. machine applique. I'm attracted by.. my favorite color is green, and it seems that most of my quilts have some green in them.  I don't care for plaid, but I like stripes and checks.  Any fabric is fine with me.  I try to use a variety of fabrics in my work, depending on the pattern.

 
My stash.. consists of a lot of fat quarters.  I like to have a variety of fabrics for machine applique. 

I belong to.. a group of quilters that gets together every month for demonstrations, show-and-tell and fellowship.  We are not a guild but just a group of friends who gets together for sewing, eating, shopping, laughing, crying, and sharing. What you should know about me.. I have been very happily married to my best friend for 30 years. We have four grown daughters and two beautiful grandchildren, hopefully with more on the way.  I love to cook and decorate for Christmas.

My non-quilting hobbies are.. I started taking piano lessons two years ago and am enjoying it, although it's very time-consuming.

I entered Quilt Design Star™ because.. I have never entered any kind of quilt contest or had a quilt judged, so I just thought I'd see how far I can go with it.  Visit me at my website.. Jane's Custom Quilts.
