My original quilt inspired me by... I had read a article in a old magazine where you take orginal blocks and do them at different angles. I really liked that idea and was planning on doing a quilt using this method. So when we had to re-invent the orginal quilt it was like it was meant to be. I took the 2 orginal blocks and worked them into a 60% angle and loved the pattern. I came up with about 4 patterns and really like the one that was used on Country Rose. How I decided on this one, I thought about a couple of things. If I was a quilter and picked up your magazine on a rack, would I make this quilt? Is this for my level? This quilt can be done by beginners or advanced quilters. some of the other patterns were more advanced. This pattern has a lot of movement in it and I love the way the blocks when together to form this different design. |

I experienced the following challenges with this quilt... It was a very busy month, just knowing you had Christmas in the month. I was also a Great Grandma and Grandma during December. Plus we had one last Little Britches rodeo to go to in Dec. I work a 40+ job also, so my sewing is done at night or weekends. So I had myself on a a very tight schudule to finish everything and get it to my quilter, Terri Hatcher before Christmas. I had a couple good friends, helping me one day. Beside cutting the fabric the wrong size for the paper piecing. That is how this quilt got it's 2nd name, The Ripper. I think the 2nd biggest problem was picking the right colors fabric for this quilt. I have alot of sample blocks where the colors just didn't go. I think just being at this level of the contest and really wanting everything to go right was alot of stress. I just really please of the outcome of the quilt. |
