Let me help!
Hi dwizard, Let me help you out. In Step 2, the 7 3/4" dimension is the vertical one. If you add the horizontal dimension of 6 3/4" + 1 7/8" + 1 7/8" you get 10 1/2". Subtract 1" for the seam allowances in the 2 seams and you're left with 9 1/2". Since the strip is cut at 10", this leaves you with an extra 1/2" which will get trimmed off after mitering. Please email us at mcq@creativecraftsgroup.com if you have any other problems with this pattern and we'll be happy to help. Rest assured, you'll be successful with this pattern if you follow the instructions. Several of our readers have already completed their quilts and sent us photos, so I'm sure you'll also have a great quilt when you're done!
as I look through the rest of the layout it appears that there may be more than one measurement wrong. How frustrating!
Pattern error?
I have all the pieces cut out and started to make the blocks but I can't figure out the measurements. If you add 1 7/8 & 1 7/8 & 7 3/4 (taking off seams) you should have 10 1/2 inches but the instructions tell you to sew a 10 inch strip on the top and bottom to make the mitered corners. Instruction #2. ???

Hi! Yes, you certainly can. Just make sure to use an accurate 1/4" seam and you should be fine! Laura Roberts
