Batting Twin size
*You will have sufficient fabric remaining from the center of the aqua border print to back your quilt. If you prefer to use an alternate fabric for backing, you will need to purchase 4 7/8 yds. for that purpose.

Planning and Cutting
Cut border print strips starting 1/4" outside the yellow/orange part of the print, and center the length of each strip on a pink flower (see Cutting Diagram, below). The remainder of the border print fabric (center portion) can be used as coordinating backing fabric for your quilt (piece widthwise).

Piecing the Blocks and Sashing Strips
1 Draw diagonal line on wrong side of yellow 2 7/8" square. Place marked square on peach 2 7/8" square, right sides together (Diagram I).
Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares. Make 96.
2 Sew 2 rows using 1 each yellow and pink 2 1/2" squares and 2 pieced squares (Diagram II).
 Sew rows together to make large pieced square. Make 48.
3 Referring to Diagram III, sew 3 rows using 4 large pieced squares, 4 yellow rectangles, and peach 2 1/2" square.
 Sew rows together to make French Patchwork Variation Block. Make 12.
4 Draw diagonal line on wrong side of peach 2 1/2" square. Place marked square on aqua check 4 1/2" x 10 1/2" strip, right sides together, aligning raw edges (Diagram IV-A).
 Stitch on drawn line; trim away and discard excess fabric. Press open. Repeat on adjoining corner to make outer sashing strip. Make 10. In similar manner, add 4 peach squares to aqua strip to make inner sashing strip (Diagram IV-B).
 Make 7.
5 Using mark, stitch, trim, and press process from Step 4, add peach 2 1/2" squares to aqua 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle to make pieced rectangle (Diagram V).
 Make 16.
6 Sew 3 rows using 4 aqua 2 1/2" squares, 4 pieced rectangles, and peach 4 1/2" square. Sew rows together to make Star Block (Diagram VI).
 Make 4.
Quilt Top Assembly
Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps.
7 Sew 4 block rows using 3 French Patchwork Variation Blocks and 2 sashing strips each, watching placement of outer and inner sashing strips. Sew 3 sashing rows using 3 sashing strips and 2 peach 4 1/2" squares each. Sew rows together, alternating.
8 Stitch aqua plaid 56" strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Stitch aqua 46" strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides.
9 Finger-press two 52" border print strips in half at center of pink flower. Stitch together along long aqua sides of strips, matching folds. Make 2. Measure exact width of quilt center (from raw edge to raw edge). Trim pieced strips to this measurement, centering on pink flower, and sew Star Blocks to ends. Finger-press two 66" border strips in half at center of pink flower. Stitch together along long aqua sides of strips, matching folds. Make 2. Stitch to sides of quilt center, centering on pink flowers. Trim even with top/bottom. Sew remaining pieced strips to top/bottom.
10 Sew aqua plaid 76" strips to sides; trim even. Sew aqua plaid 66" strips to top/bottom; trim even.
11 Layer, baste, and quilt as desired. Bind with bias-cut peach/multicolor check.
