I took a little time today to read some of our Facebook posts and there were quite a few of you that wanted to see our gallery exhibit. Well, I thought to myself, why not blog about it and share it with you.
I’ve been MIA for a while on the McCall’s blog – but I’m going to try and get back to it. I’m the crazy girl who is trying to make 36 quilts in 12 months and between, work, family, dogs and well, everything else in life – I’m noticing how little time there is left.
I have been blessed beyond measure. Working here at McCall’s Quilting is nothing short of a dream for a quilter. Not only is my job awesome, but my co-workers have become like family to me. And they ALL quilt! Which is why our gallery show is so exciting. Each member of the McCall’s staff has contributed one or more quilts to this amazing show and I’m going to share pictures of them with you throughout the next couple of weeks.
We’re going to start with Kathy Patterson’s quilt. Kathy is the Senior Editor here at McCall’s. Not only is she an amazing quilter, her piecing work is mind blowing! Kathy has a smile and a laugh that is contagious.
This year is the 20th Anniversary for McCall’s Quilting Magazine. Some of us on the McCall’s staff remade quilts from various covers throughout the years. When I asked Kathy about Buttons & Bow Ties, she said, “I was really excited to remake the 1st ever McCall’s Cover quilt. I used Kaffe Fassett prints and Kona pastel solids to girly it up.”
The original design was by Lynn Dash and it appeared in the 1st ever McCall’s Quilting Magazine.
Here are some more detailed shots.
Kathy’s version even made the cover, around here when that happens we refer to ourselves as a “cover girl” .
This is one quilt of many. The pattern is a free download. Buttons & Bow Ties
Stay tuned for more. Signing off, Tracee.
