I have to tell you, our staff is having so much fun planning and making Quilt Along videos for our readers! Erin Russek designed a bright and beautiful floral appliqué wall hanging especially for our third online Quilt Along (you now have the inside scoop!), and many of us are making our own versions to share with you when that series begins.
Note: Please click here for all Quilt Along information. The current Quilt Along is Accent on Amish, geared toward beginning or time-challenged quilters. Stay tuned to our blog and/or Facebook, where we announce each new episode, as well as upcoming Quilt Alongs.
I typically enjoy making pieced quilts, and while I’ve done some appliqué over the years, making the samples for our third Quilt Along has renewed my enthusiasm for this technique. So today, I’ve searched our free pattern index to find something with both pieced and appliquéd blocks.
The free table runner pattern shown above is adapted from Jennifer Bosworth’s Lilac Splendor twin bed quilt shown below, patterned in the July/August 2013 issue of McCall’s Quilting (issue may be purchased here).

The free table runner quilt pattern finishes at 14½″ x 43″. Click here for link to download the free Lilac Splendor table runner quilt pattern.
