Beginning to feel the excitement and anticipation of the upcoming holiday, today I have a free red white and blue quilt pattern to help us all get in the spirit for Independence Day. My family usually celebrates the 4th of July at a nearby lake with a cooler full of fun soda-pop flavors, pop corn and other snacks…it makes me feel like a child again the way the evening seems to drag on forever waiting for the fireworks to finally begin! It still gives me a thrill to see the show, and always makes me tear-up as the radio plays “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood during the grand finale.
Gerri Robinson’s Hometown Tradition lap quilt patterned in McCall’s Quick Quilts April/May 2010 (digital issue may be purchased here) is shown below; the free download is for a queen size bed version.
This quick two-block quilt features lots of flying geese in step 2. Watch our free Block Builders Workshop video lesson, No Waste Flying Geese, to learn a different approach to making flying geese.
The free queen size bed quilt pattern finishes at 85½″ x 97½″. Click here for link to download the free Hometown Tradition quilt pattern.
