I was in the middle of teaching a class and every 15 minutes I would check the contest website, and as the results were posted and I saw my picture, I just screamed! Right then, everyone knew I had moved on. It was very rewarding to share the excitement with my students. As soon as I had read the next challenge, everyone in the class just started to shout out ideas. This quilt is not from any of the ideas mentioned, but it certainly helped in getting my thoughts and ideas together.
Once again I am overwhelmed by the support and encouragement from everyone. My inspiration and drive has come from my wonderful family and friends, and also the understanding from my husband that there will be late nights of sewing ’til this new quilt is completed.
I want to thank my fellow quilters, the ”Longstreth Moms”, County Line Quilters Guild, New Jersey Modern Quilt Guild, and the students and staff of Byrne Sewing Connection, for their tremendous support and excitement; you have helped me through these past several months. This challenge has been very rewarding, tiring, surprising, etc., but I could not have done it without everyone’s love and support.
Editor’s note: Joyce just shared with us that her QDS™ Challenge 2 quilt, “Summers Beauty”, won First Place for Best Use of Embellishment at the Pennsylvania State Quilt show on September 13,2012. Congratulations, Joyce!
This update has been brought to you by RJR Fabrics one of our fine QDS™ 2012 sponsors.
