There’s no better gift for a special occasion than a quilt made by a group of friends. The McCall’s Quilting team shows 2 such quilts in our new magazine America Quilts Together, given as gifts in support and well-wishing. Both are scrappy, with color schemes controlled by group guidelines agreed on before the cutting and sewing began. If you want to make a “team effort” quilt, why not start with the recipient’s favorite colors? Your circle of friends will be on their way to a successful gift quilt.
For the Cascade quilt, each staff member pieced a number of strippy, scrappy 10 1/2˝ squares, which were used to make the blocks and also cut into segments for the pieced border.
Acts of Kindness quilt is another strip-pieced beauty, made with cheerful fabrics, sure to please. Both patterns are in this issue now on newsstands.

I love the Cascade quilt! Really neat!
Great new quilt ideas.
LOVE the Cascade quilt AND the Acts of Kindness quilt. Can’t wait to see the entire issue. I belong to a couple of swap groups and we’re all looking for new swaps to do – this issue looks like it’ll have TONS of inspiration. Thanks McCall’s Quilting!
These quilts are wonderful. I have some beautiful batik’s which would look great in the Cascade quilt, can’t wait to make it.
I love the Cascade quilt, but I also love that applique number on the cover.
Absolutely beautiful…I have just started a “quilt club” and this would be a great first project. Thank you for these wonderful gifts.
I belong to a scrap group, and these both look like great projects for us. Wonder what this would look like in a red/white/blue color scheme.
I just love them all!
Would love to make the cover quilt – it is just beautiful!
Love the Cascade quilt, reminds me of the little town I grew up, Cascades.
I am anxious for the magazine to come out, I love the fall or spicy colors.
Love the idea for a group project. Good job!
I love this quilt. It would be perfect for scraps. Great for a group. Fits my quilting personality.
Both Cascades and Acts of Kindness are beautiful. I believe I could enjoy making either of them. Acts of Kindness would b e awesome in blues. Thank you Mc Call’s Quilting for sharing.
I love the Cascade quilt! I have been saving all of my scraps with the idea of doing a string pieced quilt but have been kind of daunted by putting together the scraps into a cohesive color scheme. This really shows how to make it work!
I love the cascade quilt, and the magazine looks great too.
The quilts here are so beautiful! I’d love to see the magazine and all the ideas there.
Both are lovely quilts! The Cascade quilt reminds me of the mountains in fall colors.
Love them all!!! Great ideas for charity quilts!
i love the cascade quilt

I loved the idea of doing a group project. I think I would like to do a Quilt of Valor group quilt with my small quilt group using the Cascade pattern.
The kindness quilt is gorgeous!
Love the colors and patterns! Swaps are what “forced” me to learn the quilting techniques so my blocks would be worthy of swapping with those more experienced than myself! Love new ideas!
Love the colors and color placement. Looks like a fun pattern.
Gorgeous quilts! I’d love to win this pattern to do in rainbow colours for my daugher=)
Love the colors you chose and the concept of a group quilting magazine.
I love the background color of the cascade quilt! I would definitely make this one!
I love the scrappiness of the Cascade quilt and the Acts of Kindness quilt. When a group makes a scrappy quilt, the diverse taste of each person makes the quilt lovely. They seem to give it more vitality than if just one person is choosing the scraps and how to put them together.
I love the design and colors. Reminds me of the mountains here in Montana!
I love the Acts of Kindness quilt! The colors are so beautiful. It would be fun to make this one for my niece’s graduation in 2013!
I love the color selection. It looks real spicy.
I love both quilts!
love it!!
Love the quilt! Looks like a jelly roll is in order. Can’t get enough of these simple but elegant quilts.
I love both these quilts. They look like they would be fun to make..
Beautiful colors in the Cascade quilt!
Great group ideas. Hope I win!
I want to make this quilt. It is BEAUTIFUL.
I love this beautiful use of scraps. I only really like them when they are organized like this. The border really helps.
I love the idea of group quilts. My bee has made blocks for quilts and then given to other members for special occasions. I especially like your Acts of Kindness – gives me a great idea for my pink/orange/red scraps!
Beautiful color combo… Love those bright, eye-catching colors
I love the colors and the pattern you used for the Cascade quilt! What a lucky person to own it!
Beautiful Quilt! It reminds me of fall here in the mountains of North Georgia.
The quilts shown are really beautiful! I’m trying to downsize my stash and these quilts (and probably the others inside) seem like a wonderful solution.
I really like the Cascade quilt.
Beautiful quilts! Such a great idea to do a group quilt! Lovely inspiration!
the cascade quilt looks like a log cabin variation quilt block…I really enjoy it when a quilt pattern includes some history with it as to the original name…I find I add the original name to the quilt if I find it…
I would love to win this pattern, I would love to do one in shades of blues .
I love this quilt. I would love to win the magazine.
Your quilt patterns are always great. I had come across group quilts or Bees reading it in one of the McCalls magazines. Love your patterns.
