Ireland Block #9, I Left My Heart in Ireland!

Blocks 9 and 10 are finished!! Here’s #9, I Left My Heart in Ireland!

I left my heart... Ireland Block 92 Ireland Block #9, I Left My Heart in Ireland!

Here's my 9th block... it expresses exactly how I feel about Ireland and the Irish.

I used simple crazy-piecing and some of my many green scraps to make this heart. In Ireland the fields are usually divided by stone walls and each little patch of green stands apart from the rest. Crazy patchwork was the only way I could get my block to look the way it did in my head. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to do.  Once you’ve made some crazy patchwork, you cut a hollow heart shape from fusible web (hollow so there’s less bulk in the block), fuse it to the back of the crazy patchwork, cut it out, and fuse it to a background fabric. I loved getting to play with my cherished scraps!

On to the good news: the Art Dept. has been working on the diagrams and they’re ready to go! The next step is for Art to lay out the pattern text with the diagrams and then it gets uploaded on to our site. I’m guessing the instructions will be up by the end of the week.

Block #10 is my Connemara Flower Block. It, too, is finished and will be the next pattern to go to the Art Dept. I’m hoping it’ll be posted next week. I’ll post a photo of it tomorrow. I hope you have as much fun making your Ireland blocks as I’ve been having!

I would love to have all of the patterns for the Irish Blocks. We spent 3 weeks in Ireland in August and loved it. Thank you, Judy

  4. Beautiful blocks, my granddaughter was in Ireland a year working as a au pair and would love to live in Ireland. Would like to make a quilt for her using these blocks.
