“The McCall’s Quilt Design Star™ 2012 design challenge has been very exciting and rewarding. I have been supported and encouraged by wonderful people. I am overwhelmed by the support of so many people, they are as interested and excited in the contest as I am. When acquaintances tell me they have voted, and they are looking forward to my next quilt, I am moved to continue and create to the best of my ability.
I want to thank my family and friends that have been so supportive and encouraging during this very exciting and rewarding time in my life.
My friends, students and co-workers at Byrne Sewing Connection, Chalfont, Pennsylvania, I cannot thank you enough…your encouragement and support these past 5 years have helped me become the person and quilter that I am today. I have been blessed with a new family. I thank every one of you.
When I first saw the fabric I just kept lookin at it to see it from different angles, trying to see if there was something in the material print I could redesign. I look at material and I want to cut it to make something new from it. My only fear was that we were not going to be able to cut it and we would have to use it in a specific block. When I got the instructions, I started to cut and redesign as soon as possible. I just had to get all of my ideas together before cutting it due to the limited amount of fabric that was given for the challenge. I am trying to use some of the material we received from the first prize package, only the end result will tell, as I have a habit of changing materials and ideas in mid design.”
