MQ: What was your reaction when you first realized you would be required to design a quilt that incorporated the fabric you received?
“When I first saw the challenge fabric I was terrified. This fabric is so far outside of my comfort zone, I didn’t think I would ever come up with an idea. Many thoughts went through my head, including fussy cutting, applique, crystals, embellishments, and decorative stitching. I was all over the place. ”
MQ: What was the first step you took to design this Challenge 2 quilt?
“When all else fails, go shopping. I collected quite a bit of inspirational fabric. I finally convinced myself it was time to start cutting out the shapes I wanted to use. I fused the whole piece of fabric given to me with fusible web, so I could use every bit of fabric I would need to complete my work of art.”
MQ: How has this 2nd challenge compared to the 1st challenge for you?
While it’s a relief to be home and have all my resources at hand, this second challenge is a bit more difficult for me because I’m working with fabric I wouldn’t normally use. I guess that’s what makes it a challenge!
