“I was lucky to receive an advance notice from Terry Vanden Bosch, one of the other finalist, with the fabric make and model number. The fabric arrived several days later, knowing that it had to cross the border. I located the fabric on Timeless Treasure website, and my heads started spinning with themes and ideas covering the late ’60, peace/love movement, etc. It has many interesting and bright colors that can be used to accentuate the fabric pattern, which these corresponds to my style. I’m having fun with this fabric and hopefully my upcoming design will bring fun moments for many.”
MQ: Has your community responded to your participation in Quilt DesignStar™ in any way?
“I’m lucky to have great support from my husband, sisters and family members. There’s a constant exchange of emails, pictures and telephone conversations with my sisters since July 10, as I began drawing and sewing my Challenge 2. I’m also lucky to have the support of 2 great quilt stores, locally, the Art of Fabric, and the one back home The Quilting Barn. As well, work colleagues, clients and friends across the country have been very supportive through the voting process. I got more involved using Facebook, and it has been a successful way to reach out to many of my family and friends and sending them regular updates.”

“It is a great adventure. As I commute to work, I now keep a journal to draw, writing down quilting or block ideas, etc. This, I guess, is a start of designing more quilts in the future. I have met a number of people through the first few challenges, along with exchanging with several of the participants. That is the beauty about quilting, it’s the exchange of the same passion and sharing the ideas.”
