The Challenge 2 Finalists have been announced, and the remaining 24 finalists have until August 5, 2012 to design and create their quilt top for Challenge 2. Public voting for this second of three challenge rounds will begin on August 7 and continue through midnight August 26. The finalists selected to continue on to the final round, Challenge 3, will be announced on August 28.
The 12 Professional Category Challenge 2 finalists were each provided a cut of fabric from the same bolt of Free Spirit fabric (below). The fabric is from Anna Marie Horner’s LouLouThi Summer Totem collection.
And the 12 Amateur Category Challenge 2 finalists were each provided a cut of fabric from the same bolt of Timeless Treasures Paisley fabric (below).
The Challenge 2 rules for both categories are as follows:
◊ Must incorporate the Challenge 2 fabric provided.
◊ 20% or more of the quilt surface must be comprised of the Challenge 2 fabric.
◊ Challenge 2 fabric must be identifiable in the design & uploaded picture.
◊ May NOT add more of the Challenge 2 fabric provided.
◊ Quilt must be at least 24″ square or larger, but may be a shape other than square.
◊ Quilt must have been started no earlier than July 10, 2012.
◊ Quilt may be pieced, appliquéd, or use mixed techniques.
◊ Quilt top should NOT be quilted.
Considering what we’ve all seen so far from this talented group of quilt designers, I’m sure we’ll be amazed and inspired by what they come up with.

I love the Paisley! I like how the challenges have changed and the two categories this year. I have two friends in the Amateur Category, people I have met online through my Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler Group and the McCall’s Contest last year. I’m cheering them on and still voting every day. Thanks for revealing the fabrics.
