Christine Heimburger is a Challenge 1 finalist in the Amateur category of Quilt Design Star™ 2012.
Her patriotic entry-round quilt is titled “Piecing Our Nation Together, One Stitch at a Time”.
Christine tells us about her experience so far on this challenge: “I’m very excited about the Challenge 1 project. I have been shopping for fabrics I plan to use in my quilt top. I am planning another patriotic theme for this challenge. The 2012 Presidential Election is my inspiration. I hope to raise awareness and involvement in the election process. America is the greatest nation in the world. What better opportunity to demonstrate patriotism as an American right and privilege?
After making a test block, I am now beginning my selection of fabrics for my Amish Star Blocks. I am so pleased with the availability of so many beautiful patriotic fabrics now. As my quilt design is coming together, I have been listening to patriotic music to help me feel the spirit I am attempting to capture. I will return to my studio as I hear ‘…I’m Proud to be an American…’ from Lee Greenwood’s ‘God Bless the USA!’” Good luck, Christine!
