We’d like you to meet Christine Mitchell, a Quilt Design Star™ 2012 finalist in our Amateur category!
Her entry quilt is titled “Asian Beauty”.

Asian Beauty
Christine says: “My friends and family have been amazing with me participating in the Quilt Design Star™ competition. They are so excited and proud of what I have accomplished and the work that I do. The support that I have received from everyone has been truly wonderful; I really do have the best family and friends! Thank you everyone!”
“I think the biggest thing that is going to be affected is the amount of sleep I will get (sleep is overrated!). I work full time, and have three young children (4-year-old twins and a 2-year-old). So when the work day is done, my time is devoted to my family until bedtime. Most of the sewing will be done when the children are in bed, and things are ready for the next day. I will be able to get some cutting, sewing, and pressing done when the children are awake, but they will be my little helpers every step of the way!”
Christine describes her process thus far in Challenge 1:
“I have never made the Amish Star Block before, so I am going to do a couple of trial runs to get a feel for it and know how long it will take to make each block. I am currently thinking about what fabric, color scheme, and layout to use; I have so many ideas floating around in my mind right now. I am hoping that a great image will come to me while I am sleeping. I have a pen and paper beside my bed just in case I need to jot some ideas down in the middle of the night. Once I have a better idea for a layout, I plan to put it on paper for a bit of a visual effect and then getting busy cutting and sewing and creating!” Have fun, Christine!
