Happy Memorial Day! We are pleased to introduce you to another Quilt Design Star™ 2012 finalist.
Barb Wilke is not only a quilter, but also a high school art teacher in York, Pennsylvania, and the owner of Wilke Fibre Arts.
A finalist in our Professional category, Barb is a former president and long-time member of the York Quilters’ Guild. Her entry-round submission is titled “Klimt Revisited”.
Barb writes, describing her initial thoughts about her Challenge 1 venture: “It is very exciting to be involved in Challenge #1. I love a challenge and if there is a deadline to meet the pressure of that is more enticing. Storm at Sea is a block that I very much like because of the secondary pattern that it creates in mass, but not being a traditional quilter I have not made the block before. I began the designing process with the name of the block, then did a few internet searches on related topics. It should be a great deal of fun to draft what I now envision.”
“This is the first pull of fabric for Challenge #1. As you can see there are many choices from my stash. My harshest critic is inspecting.” Good luck, Barb!
This QDS™ update has been brought to you by another of our amazing sponsors, Handi Quilter!

I love the quilt! It is both modern & romantic. Lovely choice of fabrics.
Definitely one of my favorite quilts in the Challenges. It would look perfect on a wall in my living room. It is so artistic and has perfect colors. I love it.
