It’s time to introduce you to another McCall’s Quilt Design Star™ 2012 Challenge 1 contestant!
In this first challenge, each finalist must use a traditional block as inspiration for their quilt. Finalists in the Amateur Category will use the Amish Star Block, found in McCall’s FREE Quilt Block Reference.
Amateur Category finalist Brenda Creighton will have to balance her quilting time with an upcoming weekend wedding, not to mention loads of gardening that has to be done! She has been supported by her friends, family, and quilting buddies who have helped her earn a finalist spot by voting for her entry-round submission “Celtic Dreams”.
Brenda is finding inspiration for her Amish Star Block Challenge 1 quilt in her home landscape: “As soon as I heard the block would be a star, I had an idea of what I would do. Since I live on an island where the sea is a part of life, the stars are important and the biggest stars are the lighthouses that dot our coast. This will be my first time making the Amish Star Block, but it is a beautiful block.”
