Hi All,

I’ve gotten requests for fabric requirements for the complete Ireland quilt. The quilt is very scrappy, so it’s hard to figure a precise yardage. Here’s what I know for sure… The quilt will have 12 twelve-inch blocks arranged in 4 rows of 3 blocks each. I’ve planned for sashing 3″ wide and a 6″ outer border, which makes for a finished quilt size of 60 1/2″ x 75 1/2″.
So, here are my best guesses:
2 yds for the outer border
3/4 yds. for the binding
1 3/4 yds for the sashing (which also makes the inner border)
Approximately 3-4 1/2 yds. of assorted fabrics for the blocks
I hope this helps. I’ve been pawing through my scrap bins for every block because I want a really scrappy quilt… which is why it’s only a guess as to how much you’ll need for the blocks themselves.
Happy sewing!
Laura

Am going to Ireland in July with my 2 sons and daughter-in-law….looking forward to making this quilt when I get back. Is there a picture of the finished quilt? This will be a challenge for me, as I’m not that accomplished a quilter, but I am a VERY visual person and need some idea for the setting.

    Can’t wait to get started!!!!
