I was lying in bed one Saturday morning thinking about the block I needed to design for Quiltmaker. I wasn’t completely awake, my eyes were closed, and I was just sort of daydreaming when an image came to mind. Have you ever seen photos of the French countryside with rows of poplar trees lined up, their trunks parallel to one another? That’s what I was seeing in my mind’s eye when suddenly the image of my block just popped into place. I threw off the covers and ran downstairs to my sewing room to sketch it out before I lost it and here it is – “Confetti”!
I like the way it changes depending on how the block is oriented. Sometimes it’s like marbles tumbling through shelves and then it feels like flowers tossed onto a table. I can’t wait to see what other quilters do with it!
