Wow! Sherri and I just got back from Spring International Quilt Market in Salt Lake City. It was fabulous! Here’s a photo of our new book, Red, White, and Sometimes Blue from Martingale. Wasn’t it displayed beautifully? It’s full of classic patterns for quilts we love, so we were tickled by the VIP treatment it got.
There’s so much to see at Market: some really fun and pretty new fabric lines, beautiful threads, new notions, and lovely people. And, most of all, there are inspirational quilts everywhere! Every booth has quilts hanging and there are hundreds and hundreds of booths. It just plain knocks my socks off every time. Since it’s so hard to describe how incredibly big the market floor is, I’ll try to show you with a photo I took at one end of the convention floor from above.
Don’t you love the purple carpet?
My favorite part of Market is the people. We get to say hi to many of our designers and meet shop owners from all over the US and other countries. I had lunch with a couple of ladies from New Zealand and Canada. Isn’t that cool?! And one very special person that we were happy to meet is Kathleen Whiting, our Quilt Design Star 2010 winner. Here she is, looking at an advance copy of our July/August issue containing the pattern for her winning quilt.
She’s just delightful (and her daughter, longarm quilter Natalia Bonner, is too)!
Keep an eye open for upcoming Fresh Picks and whatcha-McCall’s-it pages in both McCall’s Quilting and McCall’s Quick Quilts magazines. We’ll be sharing our favorite things from Market, and boy, did we find some great new products! More soon…. Laura
