The start of a small cityscape quilt or mixed media project
I was playing around with an idea for small cityscape picture last
weekend that could be the start of an art quilt. This one’s 8 x 10″, and I’m experimenting with mixed media. I think I’ll try another as a sewing-only project, a little bigger, maybe 9 x 12″.
It’s fun to just do something like this for the pure fun of it!

Hi I think that your idea is really cute. Enjoy having fun with it.
What size is an art quilt when it is finished?
Hi Jan,
An art quilt can be any size the maker wants it to be! They are often one-of-a-kind, so the size is totally up to you!
Thanks Kathryn! I do think it will be fun.
I love the depth it has. It really draws me into the design. I would love to see a BIG one!
Great start, I admire an adventure.
I love your idea of mixed media, which I’ve also been toying with. I just started learning to quilt in April, and now hope to combine my lampwork glass bead making, precious metal clay, and quilting into smallish wall hangings. (My website is currently down, but you can see some of my beads on facebook [Sarah Jaenike Demo]). I’m really looking forward to designing and putting together mostly abstract pieces.
Sounds like art quilting is right up your alley, Sarah, and beads will make for interesting surface textures and embellishments. Have fun!
