Around the Block

Pieced Square Borders

To make this quilt top you will need 35 - 10" blocks (Fool's Square block used in sample)


"Fool's Square" Suggested Layout
Approximate size of quilt 69" x 86"
Refer to Fool's Square block instructions for block assembly.

In addition to blocks you will need the following:

4 red squares 3 1/2"

2 Inner Border strips (background fabric) 5 1/2" x 70 1/2" (side strips, attach first)
2 Inner Border strips (background fabric) 5 1/2" x 60 1/2" (top and bottom strips, attach second)
320" red fabric for binding strips (your choice for width) Need help cutting strips? Link to Basic Rotary Cutting lesson.

84 pieced squares - Cut 42 red and 42 background squares 3 7/8". Refer to Pieced Square assembly (scroll down.) Refer to quilt top drawing for placement when placing pieced squares in border strip.
